Mayor and Council Pancake Breakfast

Start off the year with a delicious complimentary pancake breakfast served by Council as well as a free family skate. We hope to see you in 2022!

Volunteer Appreciation

2017 Volunteer Appreciation Event

Each year, we shine a light on our volunteers who inspire us to make our community a better place. Volunteer Appreciation is a day where we recognize our volunteers' impact on building a stronger community. We acknowledge our volunteers who lend their time, talent and voice to make a difference in EG.

The Town is implementing a number of precautionary measures in response to the evolving COVID-19 situation. Until further notice the Town of East Gwillimbury's Volunteer Appreciation Event has been cancelled.

Farmers' Market

When is it?

The 2021 Farmers' Market starts June 3 and ends October 7.The market will run every Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.


The Farmers Market will be held at the East Gwillimbury Civic Centre at 19000 Leslie Street, Sharon.

Recreation and Parks Month

EG is proud to embrace the movement, June is Recreation and Park Month (JRPM). Along with many other communities throughout Ontario, we use JRPM to promote local recreational programs and amenities that are available for everyone to enjoy.

Canada Day at the Market

This year the Town will be partnering with the East Gwillimbury Farmers' Market for a "walk through" Canada Day event from 2 to 7 p.m. at 19000 Leslie Street, Sharon ON.  The Town and Market have worked within the current provincial recommendations to ensure a safe environment.

What to expect:

  • Attendees will have the opportunity to shop local at the Farmers’ Market. Vendors will have Canada Day themed items available throughout the Market.  
  • Canada Day swag bags will be distributed to the first 300 attendees!
  • There will be a number of activities throughout the market including take home crafts, which will be distributed while supplies last, a photo station, and additional activities!
  • Market vendors will incorporate a Canadian theme into their booth.
  • A sweet treat will be handed out at the end of the market while supplies last.
  • Entertainment will be provided, where possible including stilt walkers!

Movies at the Sharon Temple

Enjoy a movie night at the  Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum!

We will be showing a list of movies on Wednesday nights throughout the month of August and the beginning of September.

Registration is required for the event and COVID-19 precautions will be in place.


All Movie Nights will be held at the Sharon Temple (18974 Leslie Street, Sharon).

  • August 18: The Avengers End Game
  • August 25: Raya and the Last Dragon
  • September 1: Monsters University

What to expect on the day of movie

Movie Nights in EG Map

  • Upon arrival, you will check in at the town booth, review passive screening questions, use sanitizer, and be directed to your specific seating location.
  • Please keep your distance from others.
  • There is no smoking or alcoholic beverages on the event grounds.
  • Attendees must remain seated for the duration of the event.
  • Washrooms are available for use.
  • Masks are not required but encouraged when in line or talking to staff. Masks are required when using the washroom.
  • All food and drinks can only be consumed at your seating area.
  • Please dispose of any garbage.
  • All activities take place outdoors.

Music Nights

Enjoy a music-filled night at the  Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum!

We will be hosting multiple artists on Tuesday nights throughout the month of September.

Registration is required for the event and COVID-19 precautions will be in place. Walk-ins are welcome is space permits.


All Music Nights will be held at the Sharon Temple (18974 Leslie Street, Sharon).

Who is playing and when?

Music Nights run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Entry time begins at 6 p.m.

Preregistration is required, please complete registration for each person that will be attending. Spots are limited. The event will also be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend.

Entry begins at 6 p.m. , there will be treats available ($) prior and during the performance. The band will begin at 6:30 p.m. and play until 8 p.m. Don't forget your blankets, lawn chairs and snacks!

EG is accepting non-perishable food item donations for the local food banks. Bring your donations to Music Nights and make a difference!

Nature Day

Join us at Nature Day, which will be taking place Saturday, September 18 at the Ross Family Complex (19300 Centre Street, Mount Albert), from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Upon arrival at the Ross Family Centre, children will receive a free nature backpack with a tracing activity in it! They will also receive a passport to complete each station, which they can redeem at the exit for a mini giveaway! (While supplies last.)

There will be many activity stations that you and your family can participate in. The day will start off with a Land Acknowledgement, and will be followed by an opening ceremony.

COVID-19 safety

Please note that COVID-19 precautions will be followed, you will be requires to complete passive screening prior to attending.

Activity stations:

  • Leaf Rubbing Craft Station
    • this station will include a Leaf rubbing activity to show you the details of nature, as well as a leaf cut out craft where you will write down your favorite thing about nature! 
  • Learning and Reflecting Station
    • This station will give you the chance to educate yourself on the indigenous community and honor children that were part of residential schooling.
    • You will be provided with a wooden heart that you can write a message on that will be displayed on a board to honor those effected, #everychildmatters.
  • Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority
    • Enjoy a fun and interactive education station lead by the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority which will allow you to visualize parts of nature!
  • Tobacco Teaching (from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.).
    • Members from the Chippewas of Georgina Island will walk you through a Tobacco Teaching as this is one of the 4 sacred medicines.
  • EG Public Library Craft Station
    • Create a leaf cut out and write down your favorite thing about nature! 
  • Touch The Earth
    • You can join in this guided walk which takes place at two specific time slots:
      10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
  • Singing Circle
    • The singing circle will take place at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 11:45 a.m.
  • Mount Albert Scouts
  • Butterfly Station
    • Join in butterfly themed activities hosted by the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority
    • There will be a butterfly release to close the event for the day.
  • EG Public Library Story Walk  
    • Enjoy this self-guided walk and read through the story as you walk through the trail.
  • Mount Albert Lions Snack Station
    • Enjoy Organic Lobo Apples (supplied by Organics Farm), Scones (supplied by Niemi Family Farm) and Maple Candy Sticks (supplied by Don Howards Farm) for free while supplies last!
