Respectful Public Spaces

The Town is committed to serving everyone in a consistent, fair, and respectful way. We are here to help and strive to provide professional, equitable, and timely service to all members of the public.

To support this commitment, the Town has adopted an administrative policy, Respectful Public Spaces Policy. This policy outlines expectations for behaviour in municipal facilities, at Town events, and during service interactions (in person, by phone, email, or online).

An administrative policy is developed, approved, and overseen at the staff level to support the operations of the organization. This ensures that the organization is meeting its requirements to protect staff volunteers, Members of Council, or residents from misconduct.

We welcome feedback, questions, and differing views; however, behaviour that is inappropriate, abusive, threatening, or disruptive, referred to in the policy as “misconduct,” will not be tolerated. The policy provides a clear and fair process to address situations where conduct interferes with the safety, well-being, or ability of staff, volunteers, Members of Council, or residents to participate in municipal spaces and services.

Our goal is to ensure Town spaces remain safe, welcoming, and accessible for everyone.  For more information, please contact Customer Service.

Afterhours

For assistance with water, roads, parks, or facilities afterhours, please call 905-478-4282. A secure drop box is located at the front entrance of the Civic Centre to drop off payments or documents afterhours.

Commissioner of Oaths

A Commissioner of Oaths witnesses signatures and ensures documents are signed properly and declared to be true. The Town also provides certified true copies of documents. These documents are generally requested when copies of identification or documents require a “Certified True Copy” statement.

Appointments are not required for a Commissioner of Oaths signature; however, we kindly ask that you avoid visiting between 12 to 2 p.m., as a Commissioner may not be available during that time.

To obtain a Certified True Copy document, please schedule an appointment in advance by calling 905-478-4282.

Documents that may require a Commissioner of Oaths signature:

  • Ministry of Transportation forms to transfer ownership between family members
  • Pension documents
  • Banking documents
  • General affidavits
  • Some court documents
  • Lost Passport forms
  • School immunization forms
