Mount Albert Road between McCowan Road and Highway 48 will be temporarily closed starting Tuesday, August 5, 2025 for approximately nine weeks to facilitate work on the existing bridge structures and the reconstruction of the Highway 48 and Mount Albert Road intersection. This closure is being led by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).  

Impacts to travellers:

  • All eastbound traffic on Mount Albert Road between McCowan Road and Highway 48 will be restricted
  • Westbound access to Mount Albert Road between McCowan Road and Highway 48 will only be available by travelling south on Highway 48 using the westbound ramp
  • Local traffic will be maintained
  • Signs will be in place to guide travellers

As with all road construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather or to accommodate other work underway in the area. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible. 

Information will be posted on york.ca, promoted on social media and signage around the project site. MTO will be notifying area residents and businesses.
