Council is seeking public feedback on the proposed Servicing Allocation Policy. The proposed policy will support Council in determining how best to assign sewage allocation in a way that promotes East Gwillimbury as a community that is complete, financially responsible, healthy, sustainable, and resilient with high quality-built form.

What is Allocation?

York Region assigns servicing capacity or “allocation” to local municipalities on a municipal wide basis or on a specific sewer-shed/water pressure district basis; local municipalities in turn allocate to Development Applications. Allocation numbers refer to Single Detached Equivalents (SDEs), which means the allocation for one single detached home.

Current Allocation Status

The Town has the equivalent of approximately 1062 SDEs worth of allocation currently in the Municipal Allocation Reserve. The proposed policy recommends allocation is divided by:

The above summary is the Town’s current capacity based on current sewage allocation. However, Provincial and Regional efforts are underway to plan for and deliver an expansion to the York Durham Sewage System (YDSS) that will ultimately provide additional municipal servicing for EG residents and businesses.
