The project is in the advance construction phase to prepare for road widening in 2025.

Description:

Completed work

  • Built noise barriers and retaining walls
  • Installed new hydro poles on caissons (footings) and utilities
  • Installed traffic signals at Canadian Tire and Yonge-Kingston Centre entrance

In-progress and planned

  • Install new hydro lines and utilities, including poles and caissons
  • Build noise barriers between London Road and Bristol Road
  • Move entrance traffic signals at Upper Canada Mall and NewRoads GM dealership

Impacts to residents and travellers:

  • In spring 2024, travellers can expect short duration lane and road closures to install hydro poles
  • Throughout the year, construction will continue mainly on the boulevards and shoulders; lane closures may be required to safely complete construction

Duration:

  • Short duration road closures and lane reductions in February and March 2024
  • Closures are expected to take less than 15 minutes for each hydro pole and will move along the corridor as work progresses

As with all road construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather and York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
