Discussions for East Gwillimbury (EG)’s 2024 budget kick-off next week, on Monday, November 13 at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers at the Civic Centre. Members of the community are encouraged to get involved in the annual budget process by attending Committee meetings in person or virtually via Town’s YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/TownEastGwillimbury.
The meetings will be held:

  • Monday, November 13 at 9 a.m. - Finance presentation, and departmental budget reviews of their tax-supported, fee-supported, and capital budgets.
  • Wednesday, November 15 at 9 a.m. - Presentations from Community Groups and the Library Board and the continuation of departmental budget reviews.
  • Wednesday, November 22 at 9 a.m. - Continuation of departmental budget reviews if required.

A preliminary overview of the 2024 budget was presented on October 17 (Skip to 1:12:10) during the Committee of the Whole Council meeting. The budget proposes an overall tax levy increase of approximately $155 per average household.

Budget pressures include inflationary and contractual cost increases to maintain base programs and services, growth-related cost increases related to training, legal fees, and software licensing, new staffing requests, and service level enhancements including contributions to asset management reserves and funding for operating the Health and Active Living Plaza when construction is complete.

Council wants to hear from residents!

Every year, residents are asked to provide feedback and share how they’d like tax dollars invested into Town programs and services by completing the budget survey.
