Town of East Gwillimbury Flags Lowered

Mayor Virginia Hackson, members of Council and Town staff offer their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of former Town Councillor Frank Kelly who passed away on July 27, 2022, in his 94th year.

“Former Councillor Kelly served the residents of East Gwillimbury for many years. His dedication to East Gwillimbury extended far beyond his work as a Councillor as he was also an active volunteer in our community.” says Mayor Virginia Hackson.

Mr. Frank Kelly served as a member of East Gwillimbury Council from 1985 to 2000. He was an active volunteer, schoolboard trustee, Vice Chair and Chairman of the York Catholic District School Board and a member of many Town Committees. Throughout his life, Mr. Kelly received several awards of recognition for his work in the community, including the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2001. He was also part of a housing co-op in Sharon which led to building Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Elementary School.

Flags at all Town facilities will be flown at half-mast to honour former Councillor Frank Kelly. The public are invited to sign the book of condolences, which will be available at the Civic Centre on Wednesday, August 3.
