Fire trucks with donated gear in front

East Gwillimbury’s Emergency and Community Safety Services team donated over 80 pieces of used equipment to Firefighters Without Borders, a non-profit organization based in Ontario that provides training and equipment donations to communities around the world. The donation included personal protective equipment, masks and breathing apparatus, bunker gear, boots, fire hose and helmets.

Firefighters Without Borders is a Canadian organization that receives firefighting and life-saving equipment and delivers it to countries and communities in need, like Bolivia, Saint Lucis, Honduras, Peru, Moose Deer Point First Nation, Lac Seul First Nation, and the Dominican Republic.

“We are always so thrilled to make a donation to Firefighters Without Borders,” said East Gwillimbury Fire Chief Robert McKenzie. “It’s an incredible organization with a deep impact. Having the proper fire suppression equipment will allow the firefighters in these communities to safely respond and help their residents.”
