A Look Back  

Special Council Workshop – October 15, 2025 - 10 a.m. 

Topics include an Establishing and Regulating By-law Update from Fire and Emergency Service, a 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections Update from Legal and Legislative Services, as well as a closed session Council training workshop. 

A Look Ahead 

Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) – October 21, 2025 – 2 p.m. 

Finance will provide a preview presentation for the proposed 2026 budget.  

Corporate Services shared a report on the Town’s Corporate Energy Plan and a report for Committee to review the Town’s possible participation in the 30 x 30 Target, which affirms the municipality’s commitment to contributing to national and international biodiversity targets.  

Council – 6 p.m. 

There will be two Statutory Public Meetings. One related to a Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment, Future Elementary School and Childcare Centre in Sharon and one related to Proposed Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment at 31 Sand Road. Residents can learn more and provide comments on either of these proposals.

Have you planned your trip to the Health and Active Living Plaza Grand Opening Weekend yet? There is limited on-site parking but York Region Transit - YRT has you covered! YRT now offers bus routes and on demand trips to the Health and Active Living Plaza. Find route details at yrt.ca.

2025 Final Property Taxes and Water Due
The 2^nd installment of 2025  - Final property tax bills are due October 31 along with the October water bill. Payments can be made at your bank, using online/phone banking, through a pre-authorized payment plan or through our online portal. If you have not received a bill, residents are encouraged to contact the Town for their account balance prior to the due date. Find all the details at eastgwillimbury.ca/PropertyTax

Canada Post Labour Disruption
We are actively monitoring the Canada Post Labour disruption. Please note that property owners and tenants are still responsible for making property tax and water and wastewater payments on time.
How do I get my bill if Canada Post is on strike?

• Residents are encouraged to sign up for e-billing or register for online account access to view a PDF copy of their property tax and water bills.

We will continue to update residents as the disruption continues through social channels and the Town’s website.

2026 Business Plan and Budget
East Gwillimbury’s 2026 Business Plan and Budget process is underway! Get involved and participate in budget discussions on:

Fill By-law
Join us at the Public Information Centre on October 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Civic Centre (19000 Leslie Street) to view and provide feedback on proposed updates to the Town’s Fill and Site Alteration By-law. This initiative will make key updates to the Town’s By-law and provide improved alignment with Provincial regulations and guidelines. If you are unable to attend the Public Information Centre in person, display boards and the draft by-law will be available on the Town’s website following the meeting. Haunted Halloween Hike
Join us on October 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sharon Museum Gardens for our annual Haunted Halloween Hike! Enjoy a spooktacular evening filled with treats, a walk through the spooky forest, the mystical market, live music, and family fun! Don't forget to wear your costume. This event is fully outdoors. Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected for the Holland Landing Food Pantry at the event. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/Halloween.

Heritage Strategy Public Information Session
Together with heritage planning consultant Goodeve & Associates, EG is developing a Heritage Strategy. This project will help guide how we identify, preserve, and celebrate cultural heritage across the community. Join us for the public information sessions on Wednesday, October 29 at the Civic Centre (19000 Leslie Street) to ask questions and provide feedback. The sessions will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/Heritage.
