The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) offers multiple options for paying your property tax bill. Please consider processing times when making payments close to due dates to avoid late payment charges. The Town does not accept credit card payments for property tax bills at this time.

2021 Final Tax Bills

The 2021 final tax bills were calculated and mailed by June 14, 2021. In the event that you did not receive your bill, please contact the Town office directly at 905-478-4282, and we will re-issue the bill. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or exempt the taxpayer from incurring late payment charges. The due dates for the 2021 final tax bills are:

  • 1st installment due August 31, 2021
  • 2nd installment due October 29, 2021

If your tax account is not current, a pre-set monthly payment can be arranged to help you catch up on tax arrears. Unpaid taxes will be charged 1.25% interest per month effective the first day of default. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or from incurring interest. Please contact the Town at 905-478- 4282 or email for any questions.

Interest and penalty for property taxes

The Town charges a penalty of 1.25% per month on outstanding taxes. This penalty is charged on the first day of each month in compliance with the Municipal Act, 2001. Please note, penalty is not charged on penalty. If you did not receive your tax bill, please contact customer service. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or exempt the taxpayer from incurring late payment charges.

How to pay your property tax bill

Learn about the different payment options for paying your property tax bill:

Preauthorized payment plan (PAP)

We encourage the payment of your tax bill through the pre-authorized tax payment plan (PAP). Enrollment in PAP can occur at any time in the year when the account is up to date, and the property has been fully assessed.

There are three options for PAP:

  • Option #1 - 10 Month Installment Plan, Feb-Nov, withdrawal date is the 15th of each month (the account must be current, and the home must be fully assessed).
  • Option #2 - Installment Plan, withdrawal date is the regular scheduled tax due dates (four times per year).
  • Option #3 - Arrears Plan, assists those who have arrears in catching up with their taxes. Pre-determined withdrawal amounts are taken on the 15th of each month.

To join our PAP,  please fill out the pre-authorized payment form (property taxes) and email it to our Tax Department.

To cancel your PAP plan, or change your banking information on your existing plan, please fill out the property tax and water/sewer bill stop/change form, and email it to our Tax and Water Services Department.
