Daylight Savings
Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward on March 8 for Daylight Savings! Be sure to also check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms for expiration dates and replace batteries to ensure they are in good working condition. Learn more on our Fire and Emergency Service page.
Seasonal Road Weight Limits in Effect
Spring weather is on the way, and seasonal road weight limits are in effect. Commercial vehicles and trailers that weigh above 11,000 pounds per axle are prohibited on roads where signage is posted.

Mosquito Control Program
Weather permitting, from mid-March to late May, the biological larvicide VectoBac 200G [PCP#18158, granular formulation] will be applied by helicopter to select standing water mosquito breeding habitats within EG. View the treatment areas on our Mosquito page.
This product contains B.t.i., which is specific to mosquito larvae. Mortality results occur within 24 hours; the larvicide biodegrades within 72 hours. 2026 Spring and Summer Health and Active Living Guide is available online
Spring is (almost) in session! View the 2026 Spring and Summer Health and Active Living Guide online to start planning your spring activities. The Guide features programs, activities and camps for various ages to get active, engaged and most importantly have some fun. From swimming lessons to cooking programs, line dancing and more, we have something for everyone right here in EG.
Attention residents, before you register, please update your address in your ActiveNet account to "East Gwillimbury" so you can register once resident registration opens. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on March 12 for residents and March 19 for non-residents.

Aquatic Leadership Courses
Are you interested in aquatic leadership? Get certified during March Break at the HALP. The Swim and Lifesaving Instructors course takes place from March 16 to 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The course prepares instructors to teach and evaluate swim strokes and lifesaving skills. Through classroom learning and in‑water practice, instructor candidates explore proven teaching methods, learning strategies and activities, stroke and skill drills, effective correction techniques, and evaluation criteria.
Course participants must be at least 15 years old and have a Bronze Cross certification (or higher). Register online on ActiveNet with code #11071

Become a Market and Music Night Vendor
We’re combining two of EG’s hottest summer events! Join us every Tuesday evening in July and August for Music and Market Nights at the Civic Centre from 4 to 9 p.m. Get ready for live music and performances, food, vendors, fun and more all in one.

Seniors Bus Trips
Join your community and friends for the next Seniors 55+ Bus Trip on April 29 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Enjoy the exciting musical of “Finding Neverland” at Hamilton Family Theatre (46 Grand Ave Street). Finding Neverland follows the story of author J.M. Barrie’s evolving relationship with a widowed mother and her four mischievous boys, and how they inspired the creation of Peter Pan. Let your imagination take flight in this heartwarming production filled with irresistible songs, exciting choreography, and unforgettable characters.
Lunch will be provided before the show at Piper Arms.

Tweens and teens are invited to the library this March Break for a Career Pathways event on March 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the HALP. Meet local professionals from a variety of fields and learn how professionals started in their careers, including the education and training that helped them along the way. Bring your questions and explore different paths you can take after high school in a welcoming, informal setting. This free drop-in event is open to ages 12+.
