Sledge Hockey is an innovative team sport that incorporates the same rules and discipline structure as ice hockey. Players sit on specially designed sleds with skate blades under the seat. Use your arms to propel yourself by digging the picks, on the ends of two short hockey sticks, into the ice, pulling yourself forward. You have a right and a left stick (the blades are curved differently) that are miniature copies of a typical hockey stick, except for the metal picks (like figure skate toe picks) on the ends. You shoot, pass, and propel yourself with them.

Support will be required due to existing limitations of the facility. For further details contact nwebster@eastgwillimbury.ca.

Outdoor skating rinks

East Gwillimbury’s two outdoor skating rinks, located at Mount Albert Community Centre Park and Ridge View Park are closed due to warm temperatures. Updates will be shared here once the rinks have opened.

EG staff operate and maintain two outdoor ice rinks during the winter season. You can find one in Holland Landing at Ridge View Park and the other in Mount Albert at the Mount Albert Community Centre. Rinks are subject to weather conditions, and we encourage skaters to always wear helmets. Registration is not required, however skaters are asked to limit their ice time to 30 minutes to allow others to enjoy the ice.
