Fire Burn Permits
Summertime means more outdoor fires - but don’t forget to obtain a burn permit. Before purchasing a permit, ensure your property meets the approved requirements. For more information and to purchase a burn permit, visit eastgwillimbury.ca/BurnPermit.

Yard Waste
Yard waste collection takes place every other week. Place yard waste in compostable bags or open top containers (labelled as yard waste) with the rest of your collection bins. Visit eastgwillimbury.ca/Waste.

Carnaby Park Art
Calling all Canadian artists! EG is looking for art in Carnaby Park (80 Alvin Pegg Drive). Are you a professional, Canadian artist? Your art could be featured in EG!
The proposed artwork should explore themes that:

  • Showcase or narrate a significant aspect of Canadian history, with an emphasis on national identity and remembrance.
  • Reflect on Canada’s role in the Battle of Vimy Ridge, honouring the contributions and sacrifices made by Canadians.
  • Is visually engaging from all perspectives and constructed using durable, weather-resistant materials, to ensure longevity in an outdoor park setting.

Submit an art piece proposal for consideration in Carnaby Park by September 30, 2025, at 3 p.m. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/ArtsAndCulture.

Smoke and CO Alarm Program
Every year EG Fire and Emergency Service (FES) conducts the annual Smoke and CO alarm program, which runs from April to October. The EGFES team will test all smoke alarms and CO alarms to make sure they are in good working condition and answer any other fire related questions you have. This program is free and available to all EG residents. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/SmokeAlarms.

Temporary Road Closure – Mount Albert Road
Road closure update: starting Wednesday, August 13, Mount Albert Road at Highway 48 in the Town of East Gwillimbury will be closed to through traffic for approximately nine weeks as Ontario Transportation completes bridge and intersection work.

  • Local traffic maintained between McCowan Road and Highway 48
  • Westbound traffic will be restricted to northbound or southbound turns at Highway 48, with no through traffic permitted
  • Eastbound traffic on Mount Albert Road at Highway 48 will be restricted
  • Southbound Highway 48 at Mount Albert Road remains open
  • Northbound Highway 48 at Mount Albert Road no westbound turns permitted
  • Signs will be in place to guide travellers
