Health and Active Living Plaza Grand Opening Weekend
The Health and Active Living Plaza is almost here! Join us for the Grand Opening Weekend on October 17, 18, and 19 for food, free programming, tours of the facility, live entertainment, and so much more. Find details at eastgwillimbury.ca/HALP.

Active EG Memberships
Various memberships are available for use at all EG recreation facilities including the new Health and Active Living Plaza! Join us on October 1 at the Health and Wellness Fair at the EG Sports Complex for a special membership promotion. Any yearly memberships purchased on October 1,2025, will be extended until January 1, 2027! Can’t make it on October 1? Come on out to the Health and Active Living Plaza Grand Opening Weekend from October 17 to 19 to purchase a yearly membership that’s also extended until January 2027. Blue Box Changes
Starting January 1, 2026, Circular Materials, will be introducing changes to how recycling is collected in EG.
New recycling carts: Residents will receive a 95-gallon wheeled cart for recycling – more details to follow on when you will be receiving the cart.
Collection frequency: Recycling will be picked up every other week instead of weekly.
Automated collection: Recycling carts will be collected using trucks with mechanical arms, replacing manual collection by collectors. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/BlueBox.

Yard Waste
Yard waste collection takes place every other week. Place yard waste in compostable bags or open top containers (labelled as yard waste) with the rest of your collection bins. Visit eastgwillimbury.ca/Waste.

2026 Business Plan and Budget
East Gwillimbury’s 2026 Business Plan and Budget process is underway! Get involved by completing a brief survey at eastgwillimbury.ca/Budget.

Carnaby Park Art
Calling all Canadian artists! EG is looking for art in Carnaby Park (80 Alvin Pegg Drive). Are you a professional, Canadian artist? Your art could be featured in EG! 

The proposed artwork should explore themes that: 

  • Showcase or narrate a significant aspect of Canadian history, with an emphasis on national identity and remembrance. 
  • Reflect on Canada’s role in the Battle of Vimy Ridge, honouring the contributions and sacrifices made by Canadians. 
  • Is visually engaging from all perspectives and constructed using durable, weather-resistant materials, to ensure longevity in an outdoor park setting. 

Submit an art piece proposal for consideration in Carnaby Park by September 30, 2025, at 3 p.m. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/ArtsAndCulture.

Culture Crawl Event
Join us on September 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Culture Crawl! Take a self-guided tour around EG and experience amazing artists and venues. With free admission for all ages, locations in Sharon, Holland Landing, and Mount Albert, and over 40 artists and artisans there is sure to be something for everyone! National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Week 
September 23 to 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR) week, a week spent remembering and acknowledging Indigenous children who did not return home from residential schools as well as honouring the survivors, their families, and communities. EG has multiple events throughout the week including;  

NDTR and Orange Shirt Day Reconciliation Exhibit:  

  • September 23 to 27 (during library hours) 
  • East Gwillimbury Public Library – Holland Landing Branch
