Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) – October 7, 2025 – 10 a.m.
The Development Services (DS) department shared three reports:
Corporate Services shared a report on EG's Opposition to the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025.
Finance shared a report on a Council Discretionary Expense Policy.
Engineering and Public Works shared a report on Waste Management and the Blue Box Transition.
Council – 2 p.m.
Several minutes, correspondence, recommendations and by-law confirmations appeared on the agenda.
A notice of motion regarding Motorized Scooters and Bicycles on Municipal Trails, Sidewalks and Roads appeared on the agenda.
As a part of the Council meeting, Council proceeded into a closed meeting.

Civic Centre Closure

Canada Post Labour Disruption
We are actively monitoring the Canada Post Labour disruption. Please note that property owners and tenants are still responsible for making property tax and water and wastewater payments on time.
How do I get my bill if Canada Post is on strike?
We will continue to update residents as the disruption continues through social channels and the Town’s website.

Firearms in EG
Do you have questions about firearms in EG? Visit eastgwillimbury.ca/Firearms to learn more about EG’s Firearm Discharge By-law. Please note that all relevant Federal and Provincial Regulations pertaining to firearms must be complied with, including but not limited to the Canada Criminal Code, Firearms Act, and the Ontario Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act. Not all firearm discharges are illegal. If you believe you are in danger, please call 911.

Complete Communities Secondary Plan Public Information Session
A public information session will be held to receive input on the Complete Communities Secondary Plan on October 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the East Gwillimbury Operations Centre (19850 Woodbine Avenue). Attend, ask questions, and provide feedback during the information session. On September 6, 2023, East Gwillimbury Council commenced the East Gwillimbury Complete Communities Secondary Plan. The purpose of the Secondary Plan is to establish a detailed planning framework and urban land uses in accordance with the policies of the Town of East Gwillimbury Official Plan and York Region Official Plan (2022) to allow the Town to begin the long-range planning of the Town’s new community areas. Fill By-law
Join us at the Public Information Centre on October 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Civic Centre (19000 Leslie Street) to view and provide feedback on proposed updates to the Town’s Fill and Site Alteration By-law. This initiative will make key updates to the Town’s By-law and provide improved alignment with Provincial regulations and guidelines. If you are unable to attend the PIC in person, display boards and the draft by-law will be available on the Town’s website following the meeting. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/FillBylaw.
Haunted Halloween Hike
Join us on October 24 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sharon Museum Gardens for our annual Haunted Halloween Hike! Enjoy a spooktacular evening filled with treats, a walk through the spooky forest, the mystical market, live music, and family fun! Don't forget to wear your costume. This event is fully outdoors. Heritage Strategy Public Information Session
Together with heritage planning consultant Goodeve & Associates, EG is developing a Heritage Strategy. This project will help guide how we identify, preserve, and celebrate cultural heritage across the community. Join us for the public information sessions on Wednesday, October 29 at the Civic Centre (19000 Leslie Street) to ask questions and provide feedback. The sessions will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Learn more on our website.
