Council Highlights from March 10
Committee of the Whole Council (CWC)
Parking Pilot Program – Staff recommended a Parking Pilot Program to provide flexible parking options in EG. The one-year pilot program will begin on April 15, 2026, and will explore four new parking strategies for the community. The pilot includes an odd/even parking schedule (on select streets), additional paid overnight parking permits, an accessible parking exemption and new overnight parking permits at Vivian Creek and Radial Line Parks. After the pilot program, staff will report the results, feedback, and propose recommendations to Council. Additional information will be shared with impacted residents soon. Learn more here.
Backyard Hen Pilot – Staff recommended transitioning this to a permanent program. As part of the program, residential properties can apply to have up to four hens on their property. Learn more on our Backyard Hens page.
Fill By-law Update – Staff recommended the approval of the updated Fill By-law. Key updates to the by-law include changes to align with provincial regulations and best practices, a streamlined permit process for minor scale site alterations, fines/penalties for non-compliant activity, changing the name of the by-law from “Fill” to “Site Alteration” and more. Spring Safety
Spring weather is near! With rain and warmer weather, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority is reminding residents to stay cautious around waterways. Melting ice, rising water levels, and the risk of ice jams can create dangerous conditions along rivers and streams. Families and pet owners are urged to keep a safe distance and stay informed as conditions continue to change.
