Council Highlight Banner 

From April 8 

Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) 

  • The 55'n Up Club and Sharon Museum and Gardens (SMG) both attended CWC to propose future partnership opportunities. These include the Town partnering on the leadership of 55'n Up Club and supporting the future vision of the SMG. Staff will review the proposals and report back.  
  • The Parks, Recreation and Culture department presented the Town’s recommended Events Strategy and Resident Report for approval. The Strategy looks at the future of events in EG and how the Town can continue to shape events to connect and engage with the community. Learn more about the Events Strategy.  
  • This summer the Town will be replacing the playground equipment at Harvest Hills Park.  
  • The Statement of Council Remuneration and Expenses for 2025 is available for reviewing on the Town’s website
  • CWC referred the Community Design Plan (CDP) back to staff for a further report on questions raised at the meeting. The CDP will guide the future development of a complete, mixed-use community along the Green Lane Corridor. Learn more about the CDP.

Upcoming Council Meetings 

April 14 - Council Education Session at 10 a.m. Topics include an update from York Regional Police, an update on the Town’s Asset Management Plan, and a financial condition assessment.   

April 21 - CWC at 2 p.m. and Council at 6 p.m. 

Meetings are held in Council Chambers at the Civic Centre located at 19000 Leslie Street.  

The agenda for these meetings will be available at noon on the Thursday before the meeting on our agenda page.

Yard Waste Collection Begins Next Week
Starting the week of April 12, yard waste collection will be available every other week for residents on their scheduled collection day. Please place yard waste in paper, compostable bags at the side of the street with the rest of your waste. Residents can also place yard waste in open top containers (with handles) that are labelled with yellow yard waste stickers. View the collection schedule on our Waste page.

Earth Day is approaching, EG! Small changes at home can benefit our planet. Did you know that more items are now collected as part of the Circular Materials recycling program? Residents can recycle:

  • Frozen juice containers 
  • Ice cream tubs 
  • Deodorant tubes 
  • Toothpaste tubes

2026 Property Taxes
2026 property taxes are due this month. Did you know you can make a payment via the Town’s online portal? This safe and secure online portal will allow residents to view account balances, view previous bills and receive bills via email. The 2026 interim tax bill installment due date is April 30, 2026. Civic Centre Site Revitalization Open House
Have you been to the Civic Centre, and do you have ideas about the amenities that would enhance the site outdoors? We want to hear your vision for the Civic Centre Site Revitalization project! Your feedback could help bring an outdoor amphitheatre, seasonal skating, new playground and more to the space.

Earth Day is more than a day in EG - it’s a month of action! Join us for cleanups, creative workshops, a guided nature walk and more as we celebrate Earth Month together. Let’s keep EG clean, green and thriving. Join us throughout the month for:

  • Community Cleanup on April 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EG Civic Centre
  • Earth Day Flag Raising on April 22 at 11:30 a.m. outside the EG Civic Centre at the community flagpole
  • “The Art of Upcycling” Workshop in partnership with the EG Public Library on April 25 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Queensville Branch (160 Jim Mortson Drive)
  • Guided Nature Walk on May 2 at 11 a.m. at the Nokiidaa trail (Mount Albert Road and Yonge Street)

Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is open on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holland Landing Community Centre (19513 Yonge Street). If you would like to donate, you can:

  • Drop off non-perishable food items at the Holland Landing, Mount Albert, or Queensville Library Branches during library open hours. Any large donations should be brought directly to the Holland Landing Library Branch
  • Monetary donations can be made in person at all library branches
