June 2 Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) and Council Meetings

EG receives Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting - EG is proud to share that our Finance department was awarded the 2024 Canadian Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the seventh consecutive year in a row by the Government Finance Officers Association. This award recognizes individual governments that go above and beyond in publishing high-quality financial reports. Read the media release for more details.

Notice of Intention to Designate Heritage Homes - In 2022, the More Homes Built Faster Act (Bill 23) amended the Ontario Heritage Act, requiring that any listed heritage properties (as of 2022) must be either designated or removed from their heritage register by January 1, 2027. As part of this process, the Town identified properties that were important to designate. CWC referred this report back to staff to facilitate consultation with the impacted property owners and report back to a CWC meeting on or before July 23, 2026. This process will be carried out for all properties proposed for designation. Note: A “Notice of Intention to Designate Heritage Homes” was included in The June Bulletin Magazine. This information will be updated and corrected in the July Bulletin, as per the direction from this CWC meeting.

Zoning By-law Amendment for 18363 Leslie St. - CWC referred this report from the May 20 CWC meeting back to staff to address questions regarding the maximum building height, tree replacement, retaining wall, and grading. This application proposes to rezone the lands from Rural to Prestige Employment lands. Approval of the rezoning application would permit a variety of employment uses, including a warehouse, office and limited commercial space. CWC recommended approval of this amendment. Learn more on the application webpage.
