Temporary Road Closure Notice: Centre Street, Main Street, and Bank Street
We're one step closer to completing the Mount Albert Downtown Revitalization project! Temporary full road closures and rolling lane closures will be in effect on portions of Centre Street, Main Street and Bank Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on September 29 to accommodate final paving. Pedestrian access will always remain open and waste collection will continue as normal. The Town is working closely with our partners to help minimize impacts to school transportation during the closure. This important letter contains the information you'll need to vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, including your voting credentials and instructions for casting your ballot. When your letter arrives, review the information carefully and store it in a safe place until you're ready to vote. Your voting credentials are unique to you and should not be shared with anyone.

Last Chance to Help Design East Gwillimbury's Official "I Voted" Sticker!
Calling all young artists in Grades 4 to 6! There’s less than a week left to enter EG’s official 2026 Municipal Election "I Voted" sticker contest! The winning design will be printed and handed out to voters during the election. This is a fun opportunity to learn about local government, celebrate democracy, and showcase your creativity.
Contest Details:
- Open to EG residents and students in Grades 4 to 6
- Submission Deadline: October 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
- The Town will share the top submissions and the community will help vote for the final winner!
- The winning student will be recognized by the Town and have their sticker distributed on election day

Learn, Play, and Stay Active: Fall Registration Now Open
Don’t miss out on your favourite activity this fall! Registration is open for fall recreation programs and programming starts the week of September 28.
Program highlights include:
- Parent and Me Gymnastics (ages 2 to 4): Children will develop fundamental movement skills through fun circuits and obstacle courses using real gymnastics equipment; parent participation is required.
- Little Kickers Karate (ages 4 to 6): Get active and involved in the basic self defense techniques and movements as taught in Shotokan Karate
- Children’s Yoga and Beyond (ages 6 to 9): Explore movement and mindfulness while building strength, balance, and focus
- NEW! Art Adventures (ages 9 to 15): Strengthen your drawing skills while also learning a variety of art techniques and mediums
- Zumba (ages 16+): A high-energy, dance-based cardio workout every Wednesday at the Heath and Active Living Plaza (HALP) designed for all fitness levels
- Adult Cooking Workshops (ages 18+): Learn to prepare simple, budget-friendly meals while building confidence in the kitchen. Suitable for all skill levels.
- Watercolour Journey with Bev (ages 55+): Explore painting techniques, brushwork, and colour mixing in a welcoming class designed for beginners and intermate artists. All materials are provided.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, a time to reflect on the painful history and lasting impacts of residential schools. Songs in the Key of EG - Drop a Beat!

Don't miss the final Curbside Giveaway Day of the year! Are you looking to declutter, reduce waste, and give unwanted household items a second life? York Region residents can place unwanted items at the curb labelled "FREE" for neighbours and community members to take at no cost. Any items not claimed must be brought back inside by the end of the day.
