E-Scooter and E-bike Safety
York Regional Police are reminding residents about e-scooter and e-bike safety. Southlake Health has reported a 44% increase in e-scooter injuries among youth under 16 in the past year compared to the previous year. Anyone under the age of 16 is not legally permitted to operate an e-scooter or e-bike.

When using EG’s trails, remember they are shared spaces for walkers, runners, and micromobility users, including cyclists, e-bikes, scooters, and skateboards. Please be safe and courteous by announcing your presence when passing, keeping right except when passing, and yielding to pedestrians. Learn more and find trails near you at eastgwillimbury.ca/Trails.

Safer Streets Start with Smart Investments
EG is improving road safety through the Safer Streets Program. Completed and proposed initiatives include new pedestrian crossings, stop signs, community safety zones, crossing guards, speed reduction measures, increased crosswalk visibility in community safety zones, and enhanced traffic monitoring.

Learn how we’re keeping residents, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists safe as our community grows at eastgwillimbury.ca/SaferStreets.

Notice of Construction: Leslie Street and Doane Road
York Region is making improvements to the intersection of Leslie Street and Doane Road. As part of this work, a steel beam guiderail will be installed. Guiderails provide a protective barrier between the roadway and potential hazards, helping to enhance safety for all road users. Construction is scheduled to take place from June to July, with work occurring Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Access to local homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of the project.
