Trail etiquette

EG’s trails are for everyone's enjoyment, so please be safe and courteous around others. It is standard practice when passing on a bike, rollerblades, skateboard, or other micromobility* devices to make others aware of your presence. Use a bell or call "on your left" to announce that you are passing another trail user.

*Micromobility is a general term used to describe lightweight human or electric-powered modes of travel, such as e-bikes and e-scooters

Pets

When enjoying our parks and trails, do not forget to clean up after your pet. Please Stoop and Scoop and remember to keep your pet on a leash at all times. Please refer to the Animal Control By-law for more information.

Fast-moving users

Micromobility and similar fast-moving users should:

  • Yield to pedestrians
  • Please keep to the right, pass on the left when it is safe to do so
  • Let pedestrians know you are approaching with a friendly greeting or by ringing your bell
  • Use a light or reflective tape/clothing
  • Micromobility users should wear a helmet
  • Follow all signs and rules posted
  • Keep a safe distance from other trail users
  • Reduce speed when passing other users
  • Yield at trail crossings and access points
  • Ensure devices are in good working order i.e. brakes bell, tires.
  • Avoid using handheld devices or distractions while moving
  • Do not exceed 20km/h
