York Regional Police (YRP) Update - YRP provided an update on their services in East Gwillimbury (EG) including the top offenses in EG, and different tools to help keep EG safe, such as a security camera registry and Neighbourhood Watch groups. EG, based on statistics, is one of the safest places to live in York Region. Learn more about their services at YRP.ca or watch the full presentation on EG’s YouTube channel.
Asset Management Progress Update - Every municipality is required to have an asset management plan and report on their progress on implementing the plan to ensure they are planning for the long-term maintenance and replacement of assets such as roads, parks, vehicles, facilities and more. Learn more and review the presentation here.
Financial Condition Assessment - An assessment of the Town’s financial condition has been conducted to ensure the long-term financial health of the Town. During this time, helicopters will be taking off and landing from various locations throughout EG to apply larvicide to standing water from relatively low altitudes.
Some helicopter noise can be expected during this period, within the hours permitted under the Noise Control By-law #2022-018.

Lake Simcoe Flooding Advisory
Attention EG! Lake Simcoe water levels are well above average for this time of year. Shoreline flooding is imminent or already occurring in shoreline communities.
About 60 mm of rain has fallen over the past five days, with more heavy rain expected. Strong northwest winds are also increasing wave action and flooding risk along the shoreline.
Water levels are expected to rise a further 2 cm per day. Flooding is occurring in low-lying shoreline areas including Jackson’s Point, Georgina, and Ramara. There is a high risk of dike overtopping or failure in the Keswick, Kolbar, and Bradford polders. Localized storm surge/seiche effects are possible. Remaining lake ice is breaking up and ice pile-up is possible.
Water and Flooding Safety Tips:
