 Council Highlights

A look ahead  – 

April 15, 2025 – Committee of the Whole Council (CWC) – 2 p.m. 

Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) will bring forward a report on the Civic Centre Precinct concept plans to request a public consultation phase. PRC also brings forward a report for Events of Municipal Significance. 

Engineering and Public Works (EPW) will share a presentation on the Fill By-law updates and a report with the proposed updates.  

EPW and PRC bring forward a joint report for additional electric vehicle charging stations within EG, in coordination with the Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure Program grant program. 

Finance will bring forward a report on Development Charge Deferral Policies and a Statement of Development Charge Reserve Funds

Two Development Services memos are also on the agenda: one for a proposed zoning by-law amendment at 21383 Woodbine Avenue and one for a proposed site plan control application at 17743 McCowan Road

Council – 6 p.m.

Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste collection is starting the week of April 13! Yard waste collection takes place every other week. Please place yard waste in paper, compostable bags or open top containers (labelled with yellow yard waste stickers) at the side of the street with the rest of your collection bins. To view the collection schedule, visit eastgwillimbury.ca/Waste.

Residents can bring storm debris to the Georgina Transfer Station and dispose of it with no fee until the end of April. The address for the depot is 23068 Warden Avenue, Georgina. Free Yard Waste drop-off at the Georgina Transfer Station is for storm debris brush only. Residents must indicate that it is storm debris to the scale attendant when entering the site. EG has released its 2024 Strategic Plan Annual Report (Annual Report). Community Cleanup Program
Help keep our neighbourhoods, parks and trails clean! Do you want to get involved? Join us at the following Community Cleanup dates:

  • April 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Murrell Park
  • May 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holland Landing Community Centre
  • May 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vivian Creek Park
  • May 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sharon Hills Park
  • June 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ridgeview Park and Vista Hills Park

Plan your own!

  • Email the Environmental team your name, proposed date/time of the clean-up and location for the clean-up activity, and where the filled waste bags will be located after the cleanup. If you are organizing a large group event, please include that in your email.
  • Kits can be picked up in Customer Service at the Civic Centre, 19000 Leslie Street, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Kits contain gloves and garbage bags.

Easter Bunny Hike
Join us on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for our annual Easter Bunny Hike! The hike will be held at the Mount Albert Community Centre (53 Main Street). Enjoy:

  • A photo booth
  • Crafts
  • Egg hunt
  • Egg decorating

Make sure to bring a basket for treats! Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected for the Holland Landing Food Pantry at the event.

This is an outdoor event. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
