Highlights from the March 21 Council Meeting
Public meetings -
The Town held two planning public meetings:

  • A Zoning By-Law Amendment to rezone lands located at 1002 Doane Road from rural to various residential zones to facilitate a subdivision with 344 residential units, stormwater management pond, park and woodlot.
  • Application for Official Plan Amendment, Zoning By-law Amendment, Draft Plan of Subdivision and Site Plan for 19349, 19357, 19365 and 19399 Yonge Street to develop 97 four-story townhouse dwellings with ground floor commercial, and underground parking.

Environmental Strategy - Council received the Environmental Advisory Committee Report on the need for a climate emergency declaration and directed staff to report back with a draft for a Declaration that identify actions to mitigate impacts from climate emergencies. Easter Holiday Closures
Customer Service will be closed on April 7 and April 10 for the Easter holiday and will open again on April 11.

Good Friday Waste Collection
Waste collection that is scheduled for Friday, April 7 will be moved to Saturday, April 8 due to Good Friday.

Yard Waste Collection
Starting April 4, yard waste collection will be available every other week. Please place yard waste in paper, compostable bags at the side of the street with the rest of your collection bins. Residents can also place yard waste in open top containers (with handles) that are labelled with yellow yard waste stickers. To view the collection schedule, visit www.eastgwillimbury.ca/Waste.

Mosquito Control Program
Weather permitting, beginning April 3 until May 31, the biological larvicide VectoBac 200G [PCP#18158, granular formulation] will be applied by helicopter to select standing water mosquito breeding habitats within East Gwillimbury. View the treatment areas at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/Mosquito.This product contains B.t.i., which is specific to mosquito larvae. Mortality results within 24 hours; the larvicide biodegrades within 72 hours.
