New 60 km/h Speed Limit Now in Effect on Highway 48
The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has implemented a new 60 km/h speed limit on Highway 48, from north of the Shell gas station to south of the Mount Albert Road intersection. This new speed limit helps support safer travel for everyone. When travelling in the area, watch for the new signage and follow the posted speed limit.

Coyote Safety Tips
Coyotes are a natural part of our environment and are occasionally seen in parks, trails and residential areas. Residents can help reduce potential conflicts by taking a few simple precautions.

If you encounter a coyote:
  • Stay calm and keep your distance
  • Pick up small children and pets
  • Never run or turn your back
  • Make yourself appear large and make noise
  • Slowly back away from the area
To help discourage coyotes from visiting your property:
  • Keep pet food and water indoors
  • Secure garbage and green bins
  • Put waste out on collection day, not the night before
  • Keep pets on leash and supervise them outdoors

Clocks Fall Back on November 2
Daylight saving time is coming to an end. On November 1, remember to set your clocks back one hour. When the clocks change, it’s also a great time to test your smoke alarms, replace batteries as needed, and check the manufacturer dates to ensure your alarms are still within their recommended lifespan.

Property Taxes are Due October 29
The final installment of 2026 property taxes is due October 29. Payments can be made at your bank, using online/phone banking, through a pre-authorized payment plan or through our online portal. Final bills were mailed in June; not receiving a tax bill does not exempt property owners from payment deadlines, interest charges, or applicable late fees.

For more information and to access bills online, visit eastgwillimbury.ca/PropertyTaxes.
