Updates shared during the workshop include changes to the Noise and Firearm Discharge By-laws, results of the public survey, and options for a potential Snowmobile Bylaw. Based on feedback from Council, staff will bring forward the updated Noise and Firearm Discharge By-laws for Council approval and seek feedback from members of the public and municipal comparators regarding a Snowmobile By-law. For more information, visit our By-laws page.

Tree Preservation - Staff presented an update on tree preservation in EG, focusing on tree preservation during development, property standards and tree assessments and a possible private property tree preservation by-law. As part of next steps, staff will work with the Environmental Advisory Committee to review the workshop topics and options for Council consideration.

Municipal Grant Program: Grant Intake 3 - As part of the Town’s modernization program, staff provided an overview of projects that will be included in EG’s application for the next round of provincial grant funding. Lymantria Dispar Dispar (LDD/Gypsy Moth) Egg Masses

As you are cleaning up your gardens and yards for winter, make sure you are checking for LDD egg masses! LDD egg masses are oval in shape, tan in colour and fuzzy in texture. They tend to be on tree trunks and on the underside of branches and leaves. To reduce the LDD caterpillar population and damage done next year, it is important to remove these egg masses now. Visit our LDD: Protect Your Trees page for step-by-step instructions and tips.
