Award Winning Author Discussion - This event has already occurred

Event Details:

Join the Friends of East Gwillimbury Library on November 4 at 7 p.m. as they welcome Kathleen Winter, author of Annabel, as she discusses her new book Undersong.

Registration is required.
The registration fee is $10 or $35 for registration and a copy of the book.

Full Event Description:

Many of you may have read Annabel by our next guest, Kathleen Winter.  The book was set in Labrador and was ahead of its time in dealing with gender identity. In 2010 it was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and, among many other awards, was chosen Book of the Year by Quill and Quire.

We are delighted to offer the opportunity to meet this acclaimed author whose new book Undersong has received wide acclaim.  She will be joining us via Zoom from Montreal on Thursday, November 4 at 7 pm EDT.

Winter’s stunning new novel explores the unconventional life of Dorothy Wordsworth who is considered to be the secret to her brother William’s success as a poet.  The author had access to Dorothy’s diaries at the Wordsworth foundation and helped transcribe some of them which only adds to the richness and authenticity of the drama in the book.

For Quill and Quire’s starred review of Undersong click here: https://quillandquire.com/review/undersong/

Our moderator, James Dewar is a poet and educator who can expertly put the Romantic Era into context for the modern reader and will engage in conversation with Ms. Winter.
