Official Plan Update  
After years of planning, engagement, and collaboration, EG’s draft Official Plan and Complete Communities Secondary Plan was presented to CWC on June 23. It will be considered by Council for adoption at the July 23 Council meeting. 

The Plan provides a long-term vision for how EG will grow and evolve through 2051, supporting housing, employment, infrastructure, and complete communities while protecting the natural and agricultural features that define our Town. The Plan also integrates the Complete Communities Secondary Plan, which establishes a framework for six key growth areas across EG.

Health and Active Living Plaza (HALP) Park is Now Open
It’s been one unbelievable week since we welcomed you to the HALP Park! We’re so happy to see you playing in the park, enjoying the splash pad, using the table games, playing volleyball, soccer, pickleball and more. We are still waiting on final touches to the reading garden, skate park, pump track and multi-use court, which should open later this summer. Please respect the fencing and follow all posted signage in the area.

Save the date! Join us to officially celebrate the opening of the park with a Community Park Celebration on Tuesday, September 1, from 3 to 9 p.m. (160 Jim Mortson Drive). Enjoy a free community party with family-friendly activities throughout the park including. entertainment, program trials, an outdoor movie, vendor market, concert, and more. Vendor applications are open.

Notice of School Zone Improvements
York Region will introduce enhanced school zone pavement markings at Mount Albert Public School as part of its Vision Zero Traveller Safety Plan pilot program. Scheduled for July and August, the upgrades will include optical speed bars to encourage slower driving, wider and more visible pavement markings, upgraded school zone markings, and “Do Not Block” markings at school entrances where applicable. Work will take place overnight and is expected to take about one week to complete. The improvements are intended to enhance safety for students and all road users and will be completed before students return to school in September. If successful, the pilot program could be expanded to additional school zones across York Region between 2027 and 2029.

National Drowning Prevention Week
National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW) runs from July 19 to 25. Designated by the Lifesaving Society, this year’s campaign theme is "Prepare to be Water Smart". The week focuses on planning ahead, building skills, and making safe choices around open water, pools, and recreational boating.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit the Aquatics Team at Music and Market Night on July 14. Participants had the opportunity to take the NDPW Water Smart Pledge and meet Buddy the Lifeguard, the Lifesaving Society's mascot.

Older Adult Open House – Call for Vendors
EG is seeking vendors for the upcoming Older Adult Health and Wellness Fair, taking place on October 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HALP.

This event connects older adults with valuable programs, services, activities and supports available within the community. Local businesses, non-profit organizations, community groups and service providers are invited to showcase their offerings, engage with attendees and help promote healthy, active aging in EG.

Curbside Giveaway Days 
Are you looking to declutter, reduce waste, and give unwanted household items a second life? York Region residents can place unwanted items at the curb labelled “FREE” for neighbours and community members to take at no cost. Any items not claimed must be brought back inside by the end of the day. Participants are encouraged to clearly label giveaway items, keep non-giveaway items away from the curb to avoid confusion, and only take items marked free.
