Health and Active Living Plaza (HALP) Park is Now Open
Go for a slide, a splash, play some ping pong, volleyball, soccer, pickleball and more. We are still waiting on final touches to the reading garden, skate park, pump track and multi-use court, which should open later this summer. Please respect the fencing and follow all posted signage in the area.
Looking to utilize the sports courts or table activities, like ping pong or foosball and don't have equipment? Stop by the East Gwillimbury Public Library (EGPL) with your active library card to borrow the items for the day.
Save the date! Join us to officially celebrate the opening of the park with a Community Park Celebration on Tuesday, September 1, from 3 to 9 p.m. (160 Jim Mortson Drive). Enjoy a community party with family-friendly activities throughout the park, entertainment, program trials, outdoor movie, vendor market, concert, and more. Vendor applications are open.

EG Sports Complex Facility Improvements
Beginning July 13, weather permitting, exterior improvements will take place at the EG Sports Complex (1914B Mount Albert Road). During this time, temporary parking lot closures, entrance changes, and an EV charging station closure (for approximately two weeks) will be in effect. To enter the facility, please use the east entrance or the north Canada Hall entrance.
Summer camps and programs will continue as scheduled. Thank you for your patience as we improve this space.
Now Open in Holland Landing Tennis Courts and Valleybrook TrailReady to “ace’ your summer? We’re excited to share that the Holland Landing Tennis Courts (19513 Yonge Street) are now open! It doesn’t stop there, also opening today is the Valleybrook Trail system. The trail system now has a connection from Upbound Court to the existing streets, including Hillcrest Drive, Colony Trail Boulevard, and Royal Cedar Court in Holland Landing.

Safer Streets Start with Smart Investments EG is improving road safety through the Safer Streets Program. Completed and proposed initiatives include new pedestrian crossings, stop signs, community safety zones, crossing guards, speed reduction measures, increased crosswalk visibility in community safety zones, and enhanced traffic monitoring.

Notice of Construction: Yonge StreetYork Region will be completing paving work on Yonge Street between Davis Drive and Green Lane as part of the Yonge Street widening and improvement project.
Overnight paving is scheduled from July 14 at 7 p.m. to July 15 at 7 a.m. with one northbound and one southbound lane available. Daytime paving will continue on July 15, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with one northbound lane and two southbound lanes open to traffic. Traffic management will be in place beginning south of Davis Drive near Millard Avenue to guide vehicles through the construction area.
Access to homes, businesses and local properties will be maintained throughout the work. As with all road construction projects, schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. The Yonge Street widening project is expected to be completed in late 2027.

Older Adult Open House – Call for Vendors
EG is seeking vendors for the upcoming Older Adult Health and Wellness Fair, taking place on October 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HALP.
This event connects older adults with valuable programs, services, activities and supports available within the community. Local businesses, non-profit organizations, community groups and service providers are invited to showcase their offerings, engage with attendees and help promote healthy, active aging in EG.

Summer Solstice Exhibit
Bask in the midsummer magic. Drop by the Civic Centre (19000 Leslie St.) until September 21 to explore EG’s Summer Solstice Exhibit, featuring pieces from 12 local artists. Artwork is available for purchase at Customer Service in the Civic Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Take home a unique piece and live in the summer season forever.

National Drowning Prevention Week
National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW) runs from July 19 to 25. Designated by the Lifesaving Society, this year’s campaign theme is "Prepare to be Water Smart". The week focuses on planning ahead, building skills, and making safe choices around open water, pools, and recreational boating.
