Snow Clearing Reminders

With winter weather upon us, here are some friendly reminders to assist crews with snow-clearing operations:

  • Keep vehicles off the road
  • Do not park on roads from 2 to 6 a.m.
  • Ensure vehicles don't overhang onto sidewalks or roads

To learn more about winter maintenance in EG visit eastgwillimbury.ca/SnowClearing.

Snow Clearing Assistance Program
EG is offering a Snow Removal Financial Assistance program to help seniors and residents with disabilities cover snow removal costs. Eligible residents who hire a service provider to remove snow from their driveways and/or walkways over the 2025 to 2026 winter season will be eligible for a $150 grant. Apply by April 15, 2026, at eastgwillimbury.ca/SnowAssistance.

Report a By-law Concern

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm Changes
The Ontario Fire Code has expanded its requirements for CO alarms in homes (new and existing). These rules apply to all types of homes, including detached houses, townhouses, and cottages. Learn more at eastgwillimbury.ca/FireSafety.

Waste Collection Header

  • Christmas Tree Collection – Christmas tree collection takes place from January 20 to 23, 2026, on your scheduled collection day. Please remove all decorations, nails, tree stands, and plastic bags, and ensure that trees are easily accessible. Crews will not dig or climb snowbanks to retrieve a tree.
  • Waste Calendar – The 2026 Waste Calendar is available online! Hard copies will be mailed to all homes in EG this month, so keep an eye on your mailbox. View the 2026 Waste Calendar, collection schedules, recycling updates, a list of what goes where, and more at eastgwillimbury.ca/Waste.
  • Recycling Collection Update – Starting this year, residents must use their new recycling carts for recycling collection. This new recycling program is managed by Circular Materials, but GFL will still be the one collecting recycling bi-weekly.

Recycling Cart Set-Out Tips:

  • Place the cart with wheels facing your home and the lid toward the street
  • Keep at least 1 metre away from fences, vehicles, or other obstacles
  • Set carts on a flat   your curb or driveway, clear of snow and ice
  • Do not place carts on the road or sidewalk

What to do with old blue bins:

  • Repurpose them around your home
  • Drop them off at the EG Operations Centre (19850 Woodbine Avenue) until January 23 or the Georgina Transfer Station (23068 Warden Avenue) until January 30.

There are no changes to the garbage or green bin collection. These are still managed by EG.
For questions about missed collection and broken carts, contact GFL at 1-833-779-4351 or n6recycling@gflenv.com.
