The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) offers Commissioner of Oaths services (sometimes referred to as Commissioner for Taking Affidavits).

A Commissioner of Oaths witnesses signatures and ensures documents are signed properly and declared to be true.

The Town also provides certified true copies of documents. These documents are generally requested when copies of identification or documents require a “Certified True Copy” statement.

Book an appointment

Appointments are not required for a Commissioner of Oaths signature; however, we kindly ask that you avoid visiting between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, as a Commissioner may not be available during that time.

To obtain a Certified True Copy document, please schedule an appointment in advance.

  • Commissioner of Oaths signature $25.10 for the 1st document and $6.30 for each additional document, plus HST.
  • Certified True Copies of documents $25.10 for the 1st document and $6.30 for each additional document, plus HST.

NOTE: Proof of life pension forms are exempt from this fee.

Documents that may require a Commissioner of Oaths signature, but not limited to, include:

  • Ministry of Transportation forms to transfer ownership between family members
  • Pension documents
  • Banking documents
  • General affidavits
  • Some court documents
  • Lost Passport forms
  • School immunization forms
