East Gwillimbury's (EG's) Municipal Council is comprised of the Mayor and six Councillors. The Mayor is elected at large and Councillors each represent a ward of the community. The Mayor is also the Town's representative at the regional level of government.
Council is elected for a four-year term. The current term of Council began on November 15, 2022 and ends on November 14, 2026.
Council meetings are scheduled on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Special Meetings of Council may be called by the Mayor or upon the request of the majority of members of Council. Meetings are subject to change, please refer to the posted schedule.

Council Information Packages keep the Town of East Gwillimbury Council and members of the public informed on key issues. They consist of staff information items, general correspondence from other municipalities or jurisdictions, and correspondence received from York Region. Council Information Packages are typically distributed twice a month on Fridays.
Council Meeting Live Streaming and Auto-Captions
The Town of East Gwillimbury live streams all Council meetings on the Town’s YouTube channel. For increased accessibility, YouTube’s live auto-caption function will be enabled during all Council meetings. These auto-captions will also be visible on archived meeting videos on the Town’s YouTube channel. If you have any difficulty accessing the YouTube live auto-captions during a Council meeting, please email aoda@eastgwillimbury.ca for assistance.
