Yonge Street Improvement Project Update

Work on this project started in 2021 to help better York Region travellers and the relationship between East Gwillimbury and Newmarket. This will benefit all drivers, cyclists, runners and walkers. This improvement project will take place in stages to alleviate traffic to drivers and pedestrians. The anticipated project completion will be in late 2026.

Partial Closure - Howard Ave. and Mount Albert Rd. Intersection

The Howard Ave. and Mount Albert Rd. intersection will be partially closed, with no turning access onto Howard Ave. beginning on Monday, May 1, weather permitting. Detour routes will be in place and work is scheduled to be complete by Wednesday, May 3. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Service at 905-478-4282 or by email.

Highlights from the April 18 meeting

New Trails Coming to York Region
York Region purchased land to create the Sutton Hill/Zephyr Rail Trails. The Town will work with the Region to rehabilitate the trail to ensure it is safe for users. Further communications will be shared with the public once the trail is available for use.
