East Gwillimbury (EG) is pleased to release its 2022-2026 Term in Review, highlighting key activities and accomplishments achieved over the past four years. This report is the culmination of the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, which was developed through community consultation. The report outlines the Town’s progress in advancing Council’s priorities and reflects EG’s commitment to building a safe, sustainable, and thriving community.

As one of Ontario’s fastest-growing municipalities, EG has continued to invest in the programs, services, infrastructure, and partnerships needed to support growth while maintaining a high quality of life for residents. Over the term, the Town focused on enhancing community safety, supporting housing and economic development, modernizing municipal services, strengthening environmental sustainability, and creating new opportunities for residents to connect and participate in community events and programs.

“The 2022-2026 Term in Review reflects the collective efforts of Council, staff, and the community in delivering on shared priorities,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson. “It demonstrates how Council’s vision, guided by our Strategic Plan, has been translated into meaningful action and measurable results for our community.”

A defining milestone during this term of Council was the opening of the Health and Active Living Plaza, the largest capital project in the Town’s history. This landmark facility features the Town’s first public pool, a walking track, fitness centre, gymnasium, teaching kitchen, library, and a variety of other amenities that will serve residents for generations to come.

The Town also advanced major infrastructure initiatives, including the Downtown Revitalization projects in Holland Landing and Mount Albert, road and trail improvements, water and wastewater upgrades, and long-term planning to help guide growth and investment into the future.

Environmental sustainability remained a key priority throughout the term. Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2023 and subsequently approved the Thinking Green Environmental Strategy, providing a framework for environmental stewardship, climate action, and energy conservation.

At the same time, the Town continued to modernize municipal services, making it easier for residents to access information and complete transactions online. Expanded digital tools and customer service options now allow residents to easily make payments, submit service requests, apply for permits, and connect with Town staff more conveniently than ever before.

From major capital projects and expanded recreation opportunities to enhanced digital services and environmental initiatives, the 2022-2026 term demonstrates how Council’s vision has been translated into meaningful results for the community.
