The photo is of a burn ban

East Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Service (EGFES) has issued an open-air burn ban for all of East Gwillimbury due to air quality and unseasonably warm and dry conditions.

Burning for any purpose including recreational fires is not allowed at this time. This includes all open-air burning, burn barrels, and outdoor wood-burning appliances (chimineas). Residents may still use a barbeque or other approved cooking appliances with caution.

All active open-air and agricultural burn permits are now suspended until further notice. EGFES will also not be issuing such permits until further notice.

This ban is issued for the protection of property and public safety, as well as the safety of firefighters who would have to respond to incidents started by unlawful burning of materials.

The Town will continue to monitor the air quality and weather conditions and will life the ban only when it is safe to do so. For more information on this, or any other fire-related safety inquiries, visit eastgwillimbury.ca/BurnPermit.
