Eligible individuals interested in serving their community can now take the first step toward public office. The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections is open from May 1 to August 21, 2026, for individuals seeking to run for municipal office or school board trustee positions.

Municipal elections provide an opportunity for eligible individuals to serve on Council and participate in local decision-making. Individuals with a range of backgrounds and experience may choose to run for office.

Council decisions influence services and priorities that residents experience every day including roads, parks, recreation programs, planning, water services, and community infrastructure. Members of Council are responsible for representing the interests of the municipality and making decisions on these matters.
