Pop-up COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

This first and second dose walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic is open to all individuals 12 years of age and older.

Where: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 382 - Mount Albert
31 Princess Street, Mount Albert, East Gwillimbury

When: Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Vaccine Available: Pfizer and Moderna

Clocks Fall Back

Happy Diwali!

Diwali or the Festival of Lights will be celebrated on November 4, 2021. It is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. The Town of East Gwillimbury and the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee of Council wish residents a happy, joyous, and prosperous Diwali!

Final Yard Waste Collection

The final week of yard waste collection takes place the week of November 16. Pumpkins, straw, cornstalks, and leaves are collected with yard waste. Please do not put these materials in the garbage. For more information, visit our Garbage, Recycling, Green Bin and Yard Waste page.

Mobility On-Request (MOR) Update

Starting November 1, MOR EG GO will connect the community of Holland Landing to the GO Station! Travellers can be picked up at an address within the service area and taken to the GO Station. For more information about this service change, please visit www.yrt.ca/MOR

Property Taxes Are Due

Final 2021 residential tax bills have been mailed and payments were due on October 29. Payments can be made at the Civic Centre, at your bank, online/phone banking or through a preauthorized payment plan. Please contact the Town at 905-478- 4282 or send us and email for any questions.

If your tax account is not current, a pre-set monthly payment can be arranged to help you catch up on tax arrears. Unpaid taxes will be charged 1.25% interest per month effective the first day of default. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the bill from being due or from incurring interest.

Coyote Safety

If you encounter a coyote, keep your distance and keep pets on a leash. If the coyote is aggressive:

Stop and pick up small children and pets.
Shout loudly, wave your arms high in the air or use whistles.
Back away slowly while remaining calm.
Never run or turn your back on a coyote.

Lymantria Dispar Dispar (LDD/Gypsy Moth) Egg Masses

As you are cleaning up your gardens and yards for winter, make sure you are checking for LDD egg masses! LDD egg masses are oval in shape, tan in colour and fuzzy in texture. They tend to be on tree trunks and on the underside of branches and leaves. To reduce the LDD caterpillar population and damage done next year, it is important to remove these egg masses now. Proposal: To permit an existing accessory building on the subject lands through a temporary use by-law for a garden suite. Other accessory buildings on the subject lands are non-habitable. The temporary use by-law will be in effect for 20 years from the day of passing of the by-law.

Tree Lighting - On November 13, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., join us at the EG Sports Complex for our Tree Lighting Ceremony, sponsored by Tiny Seedlings! The tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. and there will be a free indoor public skate (COVID-19 passports required). For more information, visit our Events page.

Anxiety Busters - Register for this free virtual workshop on November 10 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to learn how to develop coping mechanisms for anxiety and more. Ages 12+ are welcome. Visit www.eastgwillimbury.ca/ireg and use code 8605 to register. Last day to register is November 8.

James Anglican Church Food Pantry - Open every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to noon, located at 18804 Leslie Street. Residents can drop in to the food pantry for assistance, if you require clothing, please call 905-478-1959 to make arrangements for pick-up.
