New Hospital Coming to East Gwillimbury

On Monday, April 27, Southlake Health announced that East Gwillimbury (EG) would be the home of its new acute care hospital as part of Southlake Health’s future Distributed Health Network. This announcement was backed by a $10 million investment from the Province of Ontario. The hospital will be built in Queensville, west of Leslie Street and south of the future Bradford Bypass.

As one of the region’s fastest-growing communities, EG will benefit from improved access to emergency and inpatient care, shorter travel times, and services that better support a growing and aging population. The new site will also strengthen connections to care across York Region and southern Simcoe County.

Planning is now underway, with further details to be shared as the project progresses.

The expansion of the Southlake Health Distributed Health Network regionally and into East Gwillimbury will ensure our growing communities have access to high-quality health care close to home. As East Gwillimbury continues to grow, significant investments like this will help residents and families connect to the services they need, when they need them. We look forward to working with Southlake Health, the Province of Ontario, York Region, and regional partners to strengthen healthcare capacity for our residents and for communities across York Region.
