Statistics report that 50% of Canadian women have experienced physical or sexual violence at least once since the age of 16.  The impact of gender-based violence also goes beyond the individuals who are suffering the violence. It is estimated that each year up to 362,000 Canadian children witness or experience family violence. Research shows that children who witness home violence are more likely to grow up to become victims or abusers. It is important to help break this cycle.
