Did You Know? Park Maintenance and Dandelion Season
We can finally put the long winter behind us, which means it’s time for EG spring park maintenance. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Town Parks staff mow and maintain grass every 10 to12 days to support healthy turf.
  • Sports fields are mowed twice a week to keep them safe and game ready.
  • It’s dandelion season! You may notice more dandelions this time of year due to rapid spring growth and Provincial regulations that prohibit herbicide use. Dandelions peak from May to early June, and while growth has been heavier this year, staff are managing it with frequent mowing and trimming.
  • Tick Awareness: Ticks are usually found in naturalized, shaded areas with tall grass, trees, and shrubs. They are less common in sunny, well-maintained areas like park lawns and sports fields.

NEW All-way Stop at King Street East and Viscount Way/Hammill Heights
As part of the Town’s Safer Streets Program, EG installed a new all-way stop at the intersection of King St. East and Viscount Way/Hammill Hts.!

The two-way stop has been converted to an all-way stop with the installation of two new stop signs. Several safety measures are already in place along King St. East near Robert Munsch Public School, including a permanent speed display board that shows drivers how fast they are going and a school crossing guard during pick-up and drop-off times. These measures will remain in place and continue to support student and pedestrian safety.
