National Public Works Week
We’re celebrating National Public Works Week which takes place this year from May 17 to 23. This year’s theme is ‘Rooted in Service, Powered by Community”, representing that the roots of service run deep in public works.
Who makes up EG’s Public Works? Our Public Works team includes crews who care for our roads (including clearing more than 345 cm of snow), manage municipal water and wastewater, oversee town construction projects, and maintain our parks.
We’re grateful for the strong foundation EG’s Public Works staff have built in our community, and we thank them for their hard work and dedication to our community.
National Building Safety Month
Do you have questions about your summer home project? Don’t miss your opportunity to talk to EG’s Building Department during their last two pop-ups this month! The initiative is part of Building Safety month, which highlights the importance of modern, resilient building codes, and the professionals who enforce them. Stop by the Health and Active Living Plaza (HALP), located at 160 Jim Mortson Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to chat with the building team on:

Notice of Construction: Green Lane (2nd Con. to Leslie St.)
York Region will be completing concrete repairs and adjustments to maintenance holes and catch basins. Once this work is finished, a road preservation treatment called micro‑surfacing will be applied to help extend the life of the roadway. Construction is expected to begin in May and be completed by November. During construction, travellers can expect lane reductions, including one lane in each direction:
For more information on the project, visit york.ca/RoadConstruction
Temporary Road Closure: Bathurst St.
A temporary road closure will be in place on Bathurst St. between Queensville Sdrd. and Holland Landing Rd. from May 29 at 10 p.m. to June 2 at 7 a.m. to accommodate railway crossing rehabilitation work led by York Region in partnership with Metrolinx. All traffic and pedestrians will be required to detour around the closure, with local access maintained and signage in place to guide travellers.
EG’s Trails are for Everyone
EG's trails are for everyone and are shared with those running, walking, and using micromobility devices, so please be safe and courteous. Micromobility is a general term used to describe lightweight human or electric-powered modes of travel such as e-bikes, bicycles, e-scooters, scooters, and skateboards. When passing a slower trail user, announce your presence or use a bell to notify the other users. Micromobility users and fast-moving persons must yield to other pedestrians and keep to the right except when passing. Learn more or find trails near you at eastgwillimbury.ca/Trails.
