The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) is putting down the seeds for future community gardens and asking residents to help shape what grows. Through a new Community Gardens Survey, residents can express their interest, identify locations, and share ideas of features they would like to see in community gardens across EG. The feedback will help the Town plan future opportunities that reflect the needs and interests of the community. 

Community gardens are shared outdoor spaces where residents can grow vegetables and flowers, learn about urban food gardening, connect with neighbours, and contribute to local food security. These community gardens will support the vision of the Council-approved Environmental Strategy by focusing on protecting and restoring the environment and creating opportunities for residents to connect with nature and their community. 

“Community gardens are a great way to bring people together, strengthen our connection to the environment and create more opportunities to enjoy and care for our community,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson. “We want to hear directly from EG residents about what they would like to see and where these spaces could make the greatest impact. Your feedback will help ensure future plans reflect the needs and interests of our community.”
