The Town of East Gwillimbury (EG) in partnership with the East Gwillimbury Public Library invites the community to a free Newcomer Welcoming Week celebration. Newcomer Welcoming Week is an annual campaign that invites communities around the globe to host events that deepen understanding and connection among community members. The East Gwillimbury Newcomer Welcoming Week Celebration: Family Fun and Info Event will take place on September 18, 2025, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the EG Sports Complex (1914B Mount Albert Road, Sharon).

This free event is open to all East Gwillimbury residents and visitors. It aims to provide a warm welcome to newcomers through a celebration of diversity and an engaging evening of family-friendly activities. The event will highlight this year’s York Region Newcomer Welcoming Week theme, Stories We Share, by featuring book readings, food, performances, and traditional knowledge sharing, rooted in a diversity of cultures. Information about regional, municipal, and local library services and programs will also be available.

I am excited to welcome newcomers, engage with the community, and celebrate EG’s vibrant cultural diversity.”
