Fall is just around the corner, and East Gwillimbury (EG) is welcoming the season with opportunities to connect and get involved. Residents can explore a variety of events and activities that bring the community together, with something everyone is sure to enjoy. Save the dates and join us for the following upcoming events:   

Welcoming Week Celebration 

EG and the East Gwillimbury Public Library (EGPL) are celebrating Welcoming Week with a free event open to all residents. The event aims to welcome newcomers through a celebration of diverse and engaging family-friendly activities. Join us on September 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Health and Active Living Plaza (HALP). This event is free to attend, however some activities require pre-registration. Repair Café  

Repair Café is a free community event that connects people with repair experts, helping extend the life of everyday items and reduce waste. Bring your broken household items, including torn clothing, jewelry, small appliances, household items, and bikes to work alongside skilled volunteer fixers to help restore them. Repair Café will take place on Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Gwillimbury Public Library, Queensville Branch (160 Jim Mortson Drive). Silver Screamers Documentary Screening 

Join us on Wednesday, September 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at SilverCity Newmarket (18195 Yonge Street) for a special screening of Silver Screamers, a heartwarming and hilarious documentary that follows a group of local seniors as they team up with filmmakers to create their own DIY horror movie. Following the screening, attendees can take part in a 30-minute question-and-answer session with the film producer and cast. Tickets are $8 per person or $5 for Seniors Club members. Celebrating the Arts   

In honour of Ontario Culture Days, join us for a community-wide celebration of the arts, cultures, cuisine, and heritage that make EG so special! Presented by the Rice Group, Celebrating the Arts is a dynamic event designed to connect the community through engaging artistic experiences, cultural expression, and shared moments of creativity for the whole family to enjoy. The event takes place on Saturday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the HALP. The Town is currently calling for vendors and artistic activations to join our event that showcase a mix of artistic and cultural experiences. Fire Prevention Week Open House 

Join EG Fire and Emergency Service for its Fire Prevention Open House on Saturday,September26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Queensville Fire Station 2-8 (1590 Queensville Sideroad). This free outdoor event will feature educational displays, live demonstrations, community partners, family-friendly activities, food, and more. Older Adult Health and Wellness Fair 

Join us on Thursday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HALP to connect with the Town, the EG Public Library, local and non-profit organizations to learn about programs, activities, and supports available to older adults in EG. For more information, please email seniors@eastgwillimbury.ca.
