The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election officially ended on Friday, August 21. The following is the completed list of certified candidates. Candidates are listed by office and alphabetical by last name. The official list of certified candidates is available at ElectionsEG.ca.

East Gwillimbury has one Mayor, elected by voters across the Town, and three wards, with two Councillors elected in each ward. In the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, voters will elect one Mayor and up to two Ward Councillors to represent their ward. Voters may also vote for a School Board Trustee, where applicable. 

Voting in East Gwillimbury takes place from 10 a.m. on October 16 until 8 p.m. on October 26, 2026, giving eligible voters the flexibility to cast their ballot online throughout the voting period or in-person on select dates. 

Online Voting 

  • Opens: Friday, October 16 at 10 a.m. 
  • Closes: Monday, October 26 at 8 p.m. 

In-Person Advance Voting 

  • Saturday, October 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Tuesday, October 20 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. 
  • Thursday, October 22from noon to 8 p.m. 

Election Day – Online and In-Person 

  • Online: Until Monday October 26 at 8 p.m. 
  • In-Person: Monday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Voter Information Letter 

Voters should watch the mail in late September for their Voter Information Letter. This letter contains the information you'll need to vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, including your voting credentials and instructions for casting your ballot. When your letter arrives, review the information carefully and store it in a safe place until you're ready to vote. Your voting credentials are unique to you and should not be shared with anyone. 

If you do not receive your Voter Information Letter, or if any of the information is incorrect, contact the Town at elections@eastgwillimbury.ca as soon as possible so you can be ready when voting begins.
