East Gwillimbury (EG) invites residents to join together in celebration of Earth Week, from April 22 to 26, 2025, with a series of exciting and educational events aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainability in EG.
Join an Earth Week Event:
- Flag Raising Ceremony | April 22 at 9 a.m. | Civic Centre
Raise the Earth Day flag and officially kick off Earth Week in EG.
- Library of Things Open House | April 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. | Holland Landing Library
Discover how borrowing items like tools, appliances, and more can reduce waste and save money. Explore EG’s growing Library of Things and learn how to borrow with ease.
- Electric Vehicle (EV) Webinar | April 24 at 7 p.m. | Online
Interested in switching to electric? Join to learn more about the benefits, rebates, and practicalities of driving electric. To register, email: environment@eastgwillimbury.ca.
- Movie Screening: The Lorax | April 25 at 4 and 6 p.m. | Civic Centre or online
Bring the family to enjoy a screening of The Lorax, Dr. Seuss’ timeless tale about environmental care. Free fresh popcorn
- Eco-Fair | April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | EG Sports Complex (Canada Hall)
A celebration of sustainability featuring local vendors, green tech displays, educational booths, and interactive activities for all ages. Learn how to take greener steps at home and in your community.
Participate in a Community Cleanup:
- April 19 – Murrell Park (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
- May 3 – Holland Landing Community Centre (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
- May 10 – Vivian Creek Park (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
- May 24 – Sharon Hills Park (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
- June 7 – Ridgeview Park and Vista Hills Park (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Bags and gloves will be provided at each location. Community groups, families, and individuals are welcome to participate. Alternatively, you can organize a cleanup event at your time and preferred location, please email environment@eastgwillimbury.ca.
