Do you have a fire hydrant in front of your home or business? The EG Fire and Emergency Service team is asking for your help to keep fire hydrants clear of snow this winter season.
Obstructed fire hydrants can create a delay in firefighting operations. Every time it snows, help your emergency service team by shoveling one meter (three feet) of snow from around the hydrant so it is easily accessible in the event of an emergency.
If firefighters arrive at a scene and it is not immediately clear where the hydrant is located or room to access it, time could be wasted trying to locate it and dig it out.
Your shovel and a few minutes of your time could help save a life.
