The Ministry of the Environment issued the following Municipal Drinking Water Licenses (MDWL) and Drinking Water Works Permits (DWWP) under the Safe Drinking Water Act and recognized the Town of East Gwillimbury as an eligible and qualified municipality to operate and maintain the water distribution systems within Holland Landing/ Queensville/ Sharon, Mount Albert, and Yonge/ Green Lane Distributions Systems.

The Town of East Gwillimbury continues to operate and maintain our drinking water systems under an approved Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS). The Town has developed an Operational Plan that implements all of the elements of the required Quality Management System.

Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS)

Drinking Water Quality Management System (DWQMS), this plan/system will be implemented in response to Justice Dennis O'Connor's recommendation in Part Two of the Walkerton inquiry requiring the adoption of a Quality Management System (QMS) for municipal drinking water systems.

Having a QMS in place ensures that the Town of East Gwillimbury provides safe drinking water to our residents.  The QMS is one of the steps which ensure that the Town strives for continually improvements in our drinking water systems.

As the operators of the Town of East Gwillimbury's water distribution system the Town shall:

  • Comply with all relevant legislation and regulations for the consistent delivery of safe drinking water to the consumer
  • Maintain and continually improve on its Quality Management System
  • Communicate openly and effectively with the public concerning matters of drinking water quality

The Town is preparing a Drinking Water System financial plan in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act.  A copy of the financial plan will be made available once approved by Council.
