Any time you plan to dig on your property, whether you're planting a tree, building a fence, putting in a new garden, or starting a major construction project, you are legally required to contact Ontario One Call at least five (5) business days before you dig.
Locates for telecom, hydro, gas, water, and sewers can be obtained free of charge through Ontario One Call.
When a locate request is submitted to Ontario One Call, the request is dispatched to all applicable utilities, including the Town for water and wastewater infrastructure. Utility owners are then responsible for locating and marking their respective buried infrastructure including water and sewer services, at no cost.
Digging without locates can lead to significant penalties and striking these utility lines can result in serious injury, costly repairs, and service disruptions. By using Ontario One Call, you help keep yourself, your neighbours, and the community safe.
To request Locates free of charge, please visit ON1Call website. Through this website, you will have the ability to create a homeowner or contractor account and make a locate request.
When completing a locate request, all information that is given must be accurate and complete. Be prepared to provide a contact name, phone number and e-mail address, location of the dig site, and type of work being completed. If you are digging within the Municipal boulevard, it must be marked as public property.
