EG is developing and formalizing its updated Environmental Strategy, which will be used to guide the municipality’s journey toward building a more diverse, resilient, and sustainable town for years to come. The new strategy will update the Town's existing Thinking Green Sustainability Strategy and will focus on the following areas: Land, Air, Water, Biodiversity, Outreach, which reflect a more holistic view of the environment.

Circle diagram of environmental strategy themes Although climate change is a key component of the environment, it impacts each of the strategy focus areas and will be analyzed separately. The new strategy will look at aspects of the environment that aren’t directly linked to climate change.

The strategy will be developed in three stages:

  1. Feedback and engagement
  2. Draft strategy development and review
  3. Community validation and approval

There are many key components to consider as part of the development of this strategy. To ensure we develop a well-rounded strategy that is reflective of the current and future needs of EG, residents, businesses, committees and staff will be engaged throughout the development process to share their thoughts, ideas and concerns about the environment where they live, work and play.
